Never feel like you’ve nothing to wear again, with our guide on creating a stylish and versatile capsule wardrobe for the summer.

Yesterday we explained why you should have a capsule wardrobe. Now, we’re going to give you some examples. So, here’s how you can get an enviable capsule wardrobe for £100!

Just a reminder, this type of wardrobe needs to include items that are timeless in terms of style, from the same colour palette and versatile. Bear in mind that the pieces we’re suggesting to you would be your core pieces and you can accessorise and jazz them up any way you want for each occasion.

Remember to make your capsule wardrobe your own by choosing pieces you know you’ll want to wear often and in a colour scheme that suits you.

First things first…

So, to create our example capsule let’s choose black, blue and sandy colours for the colour palette as it’s easy to find clothes in these colours and are fairly neutral.

As it’s summer we’re going to focus on lighter clothes, so remember that you’ll need to switch your wardrobe up for some warmer pieces for autumn/winter (we’ll do another capsule wardrobe for autumn, so keep your eyes peeled.)

The items:

A good pair of jeans. Whatever your style or the season, you are going to need a great pair of jeans! Have a look at these jeans from New Look for £19.99. They are definitely ticking our versatile box, as you can dress them up with heels and a blazer, or down with a cardigan. They’re blue, super-comfy and who doesn’t look good in jeans?!

A smart blazer. Another staple of a well thought out wardrobe. It can instantly make any outfit look smart, keep you warm and can be used for work as well. Cast your eyes over this taupe one, again from New Look for £19.99.

Tops. Let’s look to Primark and Boohoo.com for a top in each colour from our palette. A black t-shirt for £2.80, a blue striped one for £10.00 and a taupe one for £5.00. The stripy blue top adds some variety and is, again, a classic design that’s easy to dress up or down.

                         Black t-shirt

Skirts. We don’t want to always be in jeans. Have a look at these lovely skirts from Primark and New Look, one in black for £6.00 and one in blue for £8.00 to give us some options. The pencil skirt is a classic cut and will always look good.. The blue skirt would also look great over the stripy top above.

Dress. Is a summer wardrobe ever complete without a lovely summer dress? We think not. We love this one from New Look and it’s only £9.99! The bold print matches perfectly with the colour palette, it’s so summery and you could wear one of the skirts over the bottom half to give you some options.

Shorts. You’ll probably want some shorts for those really hot days, so have a look at this gorgeous pair from H& M. They’ll go with any of the top suggestions, and at £7.00 they’re an absolute steal!

Cardigan. You’ll need a cardigan for the days when you don’t want to dress up your look with the blazer. This black one for £9.99 from New Look is super safe for your capsule look and probably one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you’ll ever buy.

Ta da! A stylish, versatile capsule wardrobe for the summer coming to a grand total of… £98.76! Now that’s what we call savvy shopping. Now the real question is what are you going to do with the £1.24 left over?
