How to make the most of your money by couponing – get exactly what you want for less!
Most people know what a coupon is – those little bits of paper that you cut out of a paper or a magazine (or print off online) and get you a saving when you come to pay for a product. But how often do you use this tactic to save you money? Once in a blue moon or regularly?
Well, we want to encourage you to save money wherever you can, and couponing might be something that could help with that. We’re not saying that you have to get into extreme couponing but the odd coupon here and there can really come in handy. You’ll be able to get the brands you love at a price that’ll certainly make you smile.
What can you get a coupon for?
Almost anything! From food to skin care, from toys to nappies, there’s a coupon for most of the usual products that people buy.
The great thing about doing this is that you don’t have to compromise on what you buy and where you shop – using a coupon means you’re going to get what you normally buy, but for less.
To really benefit, plan it out
This is such an easy way to cut costs – cutting up a paper and saving money! It’s so simple. However, to really benefit from couponing, a little planning is required. Don’t feel under pressure to just gather all the coupons under the sun, as you’ll find that it’s time consuming and frustrating, especially if you don’t use them all. You also don’t want to end up buying lots of things just because you’ve got a coupon for it – you won’t end up saving and might even end up spending more!
Try to target your couponing so that you’re actually going to get a saving on something that you genuinely want and would buy anyway. That way you’ll really feel the saving.
Why not sign up to the Groupon email list so that you’ll never miss any of the great deals that show up on this couponing site.
How do I find coupons
There are coupons in most newspapers, so keep an eye out. There’s also a very handy website called Couponxplorer.com which gives you access to a lot of printable coupons. So if you’ve got a printer at home you can download and print out your coupons, and you don’t even have to buy a newspaper to get them.
Often manufacturers will include coupons on their packaging, so keep an eye out before you automatically put it in the bin.
There’s also CaringEveryday.co.uk which is an official coupon site and, again, you’ll be able to find lots of printable coupons there.
In store as well. As well as the normal deals that you get on items in store, there may be coupons that you can pick up from the store magazines, which are usually free.
Don’t forget that you can also get voucher codes to get you some money off certain items. Sometimes it can be as easy putting the code in as you buy online and making a great saving.
It’s also an idea to have a quick look online before you go out to eat or to the salon or to see a show – you never know, there could be a voucher available for exactly what you want to do.
Don’t forget to utilise loyalty cards either. If you don’t already have them, get some – all major supermarkets have them. Then, each time you shop, you’ll get points on your card and money-off vouchers either sent to your home, like with Tesco, or printed directly at the till, like in the Co-op.
Be aware that…
… you might not be able to combine offers and that coupons have expiry dates. So, if you have a coupon for something that you really want, then maybe make a note in your diary a few days before it expires so that you don’t lose out on the saving.
Couponing really is one of the easiest and simplest ways to save money and we can’t recommend it enough! Have a look out there and see what savings you can make on the products you love.
